App help

Find your next step.

The iPhone app is being prepared for release. These steps describe the current app workflow; labels can vary by language. No app purchase is needed for the free website worksheet.

Restore a purchase

  1. Use the Apple Account that originally purchased Pro.
  2. Open OtoNote Settings, find Access & Billing, and choose Restore purchases. Keep the device online.
  3. Wait for the result. Restoring an existing entitlement does not create a new purchase. If nothing is found, verify the account and receipt before buying again.

If restoration fails, send support the app version, device/iOS version and displayed error. Do not send your account password, full receipt or health notes.

Back up or move records

  1. In Settings → Data & Privacy, choose Export backup and save the JSON file somewhere you trust. Backups contain readable health records; protect the file.
  2. On the destination iPhone, open Settings → Data & Privacy → Import backup and select that file.
  3. Check dates and records before deleting anything on the old device. Import retains existing records; it does not replace the whole database.

The app does not offer account-based cloud sync. Keep your original backup if import fails; use a backup exported by OtoNote rather than editing or renaming its contents.

Export a report

  1. Open Report and select the intended period. Check the included entries and optional context.
  2. With Pro access, choose PDF or CSV and select a destination in the share sheet.
  3. Open the saved file before sharing it. If export fails, retain your diary, check device storage and try a shorter period or another destination.

A report is for discussion, not diagnosis. Without app access or Pro, use the free blank worksheet; it is separate from an app export.

Apple Health permissions

  1. In OtoNote Settings, open the Apple Health section and review the permission explanation.
  2. Choose which read permissions to allow. The app does not write to Health.
  3. If context is absent, check Health's app permissions and whether that data exists for the selected dates. Missing context is not a zero value.

You can change access in the Health app's app-permission controls. Refusing or withdrawing Health access does not prevent manual diary entries. If it still fails, report the permission category and error without sending Health records.

Watch sync

  1. Check that the watch is paired to this iPhone and that OtoNote is installed on both. The implemented companion supports watchOS 10 or later.
  2. Save a subjective loudness/bother record on the watch. It remains in waiting records while the phone cannot import it.
  3. Open OtoNote on both devices after reconnection. Use Try again if a sync error appears, then check iPhone history for the original record time.

Do not repeatedly create a new entry to resend the same observation. Waiting records should remain until import is acknowledged; there is no fixed sync deadline. If stuck, keep the waiting records and report the displayed status and device versions.

Delete records and copies

  1. If removing Watch records too, clear waiting records in OtoNote on the watch first. A record already sent may also exist on the phone.
  2. In OtoNote Settings on your iPhone, choose Delete all records and read the confirmation. Back up first if you want to keep a copy.
  3. Delete exported reports/backups from Files, cloud drives and other destinations separately. App deletion does not erase Apple Health or another recipient's copies.

Importing an old backup can bring deleted records back. Removing the app is not a verified replacement for managing all exported and device-backup copies.

Sudden hearing loss needs immediate medical care; do not wait to finish a diary. Seek emergency care for tinnitus with new facial weakness or spinning dizziness, or after a head injury.
